Financing Your New Yacht

Financing a new build is straightforward when you understand the path. Most clients move forward using one of three approaches:

• Cash buyers who self-finance
• Cash buyers who fund construction, then apply for a marine loan
• Buyers who finance through their bank during construction, then transition to a marine loan

Until your yacht is complete and issued a Hull Identification Number (HIN), traditional marine lenders typically cannot attach a loan. During construction, your financial institution can use other assets as collateral for progress payments. Once the yacht is complete, a marine loan can be finalized prior to delivery.
